Wood Beams – The Contemporary Trends Of Décor

Wood beams are the oldest structural materials used in construction and are also the contemporary trend in designing the interior or exterior. Wood beams are best to add beauty, elegance and most of all rustic look to the place, which is incomparable and can not be attained by any other means. These beams have been made of real woods of different types, including poplar, maple, hickory, mahogany, oak, alder and cherry.  However, the real wood beams comes with some limitation and have a short life therefore, custom beams are the most used alternative of the real wood beams.

The custom wood beams are look alike of those made of real wood however, they are lighter in weight and can be adjusted as per one desire and this is also one of the reasons, why the box beams are chosen over conventional wood beams. Custom wood beams also known as faux beams are so light that they can be installed by the labor of only two people. Another reason for why people chose faux wood beams is that they have a longer life as compared to conventional beams. These wood beams retains moisture of the alive wood, which on drying leave the wood with cracks resulting in ruining the finishing of the beam. Even a small crack is enough for the atrophy of the décor, and therefore, it needs constant redone.

Custom wood beams, on the other hand are made from 1 inch stock of real wood, which means there is far less moisture which will be leaving, and thus, far less twisting down the road. The best part is wood box beams are indistinguishable from the conventional beams so it can match the hewn and grain of existing beams if done by professionals in addition to it they can be cut out in any desired size, whereas solid core wood beams are limited by the size of the tree from which they are cut.
